One reason why religion (in the formal sense) is ridiculous is the fact that you have to learn it from someone else. Another, is that you can start your own if you’re persuasive enough.

If God had a vital message for all of us, it would be something universally accessible—we wouldn’t need to hear it from a preacher or read it in an ancient book (especially since some people won’t be reached by either).
