Criticism is often harsh and comes from a place of ignorance or fear. But a teacher leads the way. A teacher provides a path to the truth. 

If you have a choice between being a critic or a teacher, choose teacher. In other words, rather than being bashful, try to lead the way.

Everyone is a potential teacher. We all have something to teach each other. And sometimes this can be achieved without words.
