Imagination

Imagination takes us outside the parameters of our normal day. It opens up possibilities. But it can also open up impossibilities and improbabilities. This is why thinking about the future doesn’t always make us feel excited, it can make us feel anxious—we imagine how things could go wrong.

Imagining various ways things could go wrong is useful when it comes to preparation. But if you don’t use it as preparation, you’ll just find yourself being anxious.
