Prepare yourself mentally for future losses; they will occur. While you might still feel deeply disappointed when they happen, being prepared will help you become more resilient.

Every positive thing in your life should be seen as a bonus. You didn’t give yourself life, and you can’t prevent your inevitable death. All the good you experience in between is a bonus.
