Caring about yourself means you believe you’re worth something. And if you’re worth caring about, with all your flaws, then so are other people.

Rejecting this way of thinking can lead to nihilism. Nihilism creates a self-fulfilling prophecy that provides reasons to reject love and see life as meaningless.

Once you go down that road, life becomes about whatever you want it to be, even the most selfish and perverse things.
