Live in a way that gives you peace. Don’t do all the mindless and compulsive things that other people do.

  • Get enough sleep.
  • Start your day slowly—don’t rush.
  • Keep outside influences to a minimum, except for gaining wisdom.
  • Live in a quiet place.
  • Spend time alone.
  • Keep a journal or a blog.
  • Take care of your health and fitness.
  • Do work you enjoy.
  • Be close to nature.
  • Don’t ruminate.
  • Be thankful more than you complain.
  • Avoid unnecessary fights.
  • Avoid games that are frustrating or addictive.
  • Don’t risk money you can’t afford to lose.
  • Use debt minimally or avoid it entirely.
  • Don’t move unless you really need to.
  • Acknowledge your mistakes, but don’t beat yourself up.
  • Have a partner who cares about what is important to you.
