Balancing Connection and Contemplation

Humans are social—we require contact with one another, but we’re also contemplative—we need time to ourselves to think and reflect.

Contemplation requires a bit of discipline and focus, but most of the time, we’re distracted by other things. In an ever interconnected world, we find ourselves almost perpetually in contact with one another, and this makes it more difficult to have a rich inner life. 

Remember to take time to sit and be quiet—turn off the chatter in your mind. All the better if you can do it close to nature. You’ll feel better and you will learn more about yourself.
