The Discipline of Focused Action

Inaction gets you nowhere, but too much activity can set you back. The more decisions you make, the more often you need to be right.

Think through your opportunities thoroughly and say no to almost everything. Take decisive action on only a few high-grade opportunities.

If none of them are good enough, wait. Sometimes the best choice is none of the ones you’ve seen or even imagined.

The narrower your focus, the greater your expertise. It’s like navigating familiar terrain—the smaller the area, the better you know it.
