How To Avoid An Argument

  • Be more of a listener than a talker. Be more of a teacher than an arguer.
  • Instead of becoming defensive, accept that the other person might not know any better.
  • Don’t assume that what you know is obvious to others. It wasn’t always obvious to you.
  • Challenging a person’s beliefs can be perceived as an attack on their self-worth. Give them a way to save face.
  • Remember that part of you is in everyone and part of everyone is in you.
