If you view unconditional love as a license to sin, then you don’t understand it. You haven’t actually accepted it for yourself. You mock it with your actions.
When you realize that you’re the recipient of such love, it changes you. It helps you do the right thing. You’ll never be perfect, but you’ll want to do right and you’ll do your best to do right.
Unconditional love doesn’t mean absence of consequences. There can be conviction without condemnation. In other words, unconditional love doesn’t say: go to hell and never come back. It says: I’ll be here waiting for you when you’re ready. In the meantime, you’re going to cause yourself a lot of pain.”
