Seductive philosophy is the type that sounds wise but is actually all about self. It is self-focus, instead of us-focused.
Sometimes it disguises itself as us-focused (such as Communism), but it leaves room for tyranny. It leaves room for, I know what’s best for everyone, so it’s okay for me to force it upon them.
Or, by being selfish, I’m able to produce greater value for others. Which is partially true. But not everything a person does out of self-interest is beneficial to others. As Charlie Munger once said, don’t “overdose on Ayn Rand”.
