The strength of the belief isn’t what makes it true. It’s either true or it isn’t, regardless of how strongly you feel about it. We need to think in terms of what’s most likely to be true, instead of what we want to be true. Radical honesty and continuous learning is how you find out what’s true and what isn’t.
Continuous learning doesn’t mean constantly looking for evidence that seems to confirm what you already believe. It’s better to look for what disconfirms what you already think is true. It’s actually a beautiful thing, because you realize how small your bubble actually is.
