Changing Minds

There is a price to pay for getting smarter: The frustration of dealing with people who don’t seem to be doing the same. It’s hard to help someone change their perspective, especially if they didn’t ask you to help them change it.

And it’s hard to convince people of anything on the first try, because what they already believe has likely been on replay in their mind for a long time. You’ll likely need to skillfully repeat yourself many times if you want to have any hope of changing someone’s mind.

The same is true for your own education. You’re going to forget 90% of what you hear or read, because it’s usually single exposure. If you really want to learn something, keep going back to it.
