Limited Control

The thought of not being in control is scary, because if we’re not in control, who or what is? And what does that mean for us?

That tension interacts with both our discomfort with uncertainty and our need to feel important. The desire for control is compensation for our insecurities. But control doesn’t erase fear, it hides it.

Control is often a feeling rather than a reality. Whatever control we do have should be held with humility and the awareness that it may be temporary. That’s the only way to prevent yourself from gripping too tightly.
