It sounds strange when people say they have a “relationship with God.” It kind of sounds like an imaginary friend. After all, they can’t produce this person or entity they call God anymore than a child can produce an imaginary friend.
A relationship with God is different from an imaginary friend though. It’s more of a trust—a letting go of yourself and trusting that things will workout the way they should.
There’s no old man with a white beard or anything like that. It’s entirely a mystical experience. God can’t really be described, because there’s nothing to describe other than a feeling. That feeling is one of inner peace. God is also the love you have for others and the love you receive from them.
