A good way to learn to appreciate what you have, is to purposely “rough it” for awhile.
Go camping, or stay in a tiny house for awhile. Go for a walk when it’s raining or cold outside. Sleep on the floor without a mattress once in awhile. These ideas aren’t as weird as they might seem—it’s close to the way we lived for thousands of years.
It’s not as “rough” as it sounds either. Suffering isn’t as bad when you decide to go through it on purpose. Hardship imposed against our will tends to be less bearable.
