Better Entertainment

T.V. is an overrated form of entertainment. But it’s easy to forget that, because it’s so addictive. Social media is the same way.

It’s usually a better choice to just put on some light music and read a book or listen to an educational podcast. The beauty of a good non-fiction book or podcast is that you’re continuing your education while being entertained at the same time.

Most T.V. shows and movies don’t educate. In fact, they tend to dumb us down. Not to mention keep us up too late:

“You get a show or a movie you’re really dying to watch, and you end up staying up late at night. So we actually compete with sleep . . . and we’re winning.” That’s Reed Hastings, co-founder and CEO of Netflix, talking about who his company’s biggest competitor is. He makes money off of our exhaustion.
