Being Honest About Lying

Everyone lies. Some of us more than others.

We lie for two reasons:

1) to get what we want

2) to prevent what we don’t want from happening

In other words, sometimes it’s about trying to get ahead and sometimes it’s about preservation.

It’s part of our nature to lie. Sometimes it’s necessary. Such as when protecting ourselves or someone from an injustice.

But sometimes we misuse it. Sometimes we lie in a way that is an injustice to someone else, and sometimes we do it to avoid being held accountable.

The intent is what matters. Knowing whether we’re doing it with the right intent starts with telling ourselves the truth.
